How do you differentiate yourself from other organisations when trying to retain or recruit top talent? Companies are having to become more creative to hire the best of the best.

The important question to ask is what are employees looking for when reviewing job offers or when considering a move? The obvious motivator is $$$ but while salary is a key driver for many employees there are many other factors that come into play. Employees want 1. a good company culture, 2. work-life balance, 3. flexible hours, 4. to feel a sense of purpose and 5. great company benefits. With so many factors at play where do hiring managers begin. Innovative employers are placing a heavy focus on culture and benefit packages to attract and retain top talent.

Offering a creative benefits package can be the difference between a prospective new hire saying yes or no to your job offer. Benefits can come in multiple forms including a well stocked fridge, a annual leave day on your birthday, company monthly drinks but a key benefit that has a direct impact on company culture and employees that love where they work is a robust wellness program. This can be the foundation for happier,  healthier employees translating into higher retention rates, better reviews on www.glassdoor.com and reduced recruitment costs.

According to a recent article published by Forbes:

• 87% of employees (registration required) consider health and wellness packages when choosing an employer.

67% of employees (registration required) who work for organisations with wellness programs like their jobs more and this same percentage is extremely or very likely to recommend their employer to others.

• 45% of employees working at small to medium-size companies would stay at their jobs longer because of their employers’ wellness programs.

Now is a perfect time to consider how a well-being program can help your organisation. A good place to start is to gain insight into your existing employees' stress levels, wellness regimes and what they would kind of benefits they would find most valuable.
